Jewellery making can be as simple or complicated as you want it to be. Jo presents one- and two- day workshops in a growing range of topics, from the simple to the not-so-simple.
As a beginner, why not try an introductory workshop in Art Clay Silver where no experience is necessary to be able to design and make a bespoke fine silver memento.
For those who are into glass fusing, we offer a basic glass fusing workshop from a metalworker’s perspective, and for Art Clay Silver enthusiasts, we also offer Raden inlay, hollow forms, ring making courses, and regular troubleshooting sessions for those pieces that seem a little too complicated! Contact Jo for further details of these.
Jo also works and teaches in sheet metal and is happy to tailor workshops for the individual.

In addition to our workshops, Silver Forge also offers:
- Firing Service - for many Art Clay Silver enthusiasts the cost of a kiln is a barrier to continuing with Art Clay Silver as a hobby. Although it is possible to fire small Art Clay Silver pieces with a "cook's torch", the best results are obtained through kiln firing. Don't despair - we offer a firing service! It is simple to use: carefully package you dry Art Clay Silver piece/s for travel, enclose cheque payment and snailmail your parcel to the studio. We'll fire your piece and send it back to you, still carefully packaged!
- Coffee and Fingerprints - one of the best presents we ever gave one of our friend's was her 18 month old's thumbprint preserved in fine silver! And we've recently heard of a couple who exchanged fingerprints to mark their wedding anniversary. Why not pop in for a coffee and make a fingerprint at the same time. Visit Jo at the studio to set the ball rolling, then enjoy a leisurely coffee at the Hat Trick Cafe (they serve delicious food too) or wander through the gallery before collecting your finished silver fingerprint/s from Jo. Items we've made so far using fingerprint designs include: cufflinks, pendants, bracelet charms, earrings and keyrings, and we are sure that that is only the start.
- Bridal accessories – make your wedding day even more unique by creating your own jewellery for this special occasion. Bring your bridesmaids too and design beautiful mementos to add to your memories of the big day!
