Double Blue Dichroic Glass Pendant

This small dichroic glass pendant is unique. This glass pendant has two different layers of dichroic glass that sandwich a fine silver bail. All of this is then fused under a sheet of clear glass. This dichroic glass pendant is a pretty lilac with a hint of a blue stripe. Size: approximately 2cm (H) x 1.2 cm (W).

Originally created for the aerospace industry, dichroic glass is made by vacuum depositing a special coating onto a glass sheet. The process creates a mirror like finish that reflects a specific color but when the glass is held up to the light, a different color is seen (transmitted) through the glass. Glass artists often refer to dichroic glass as "dichro".

A plate of dichroic glass can be fused with other glass in multiple firings. Due to variations in the firing process, individual results can never be exactly predicted, so each piece of fused dichroic glass is unique.
