Jo Dix, the driving force in the studio, has been creating inspiring hand-crafted pieces under the Silver Forge banner for 4 years. This might make Silver Forge sound new but Jo has been making jewellery for well over a decade and is just as passionate about it now as she was when she started.
Of course, now she has almost every tool ever made and has a multitude of approaches to her creation process. It is this broad skill base that encourages a lot of experimentation and fresh ideas. Her husband, Roger, is a crucial part of the process too - being handy with a pencil, Roger commits a lot of Jo's mental images to paper and augments these ideas with designs of his own. Commission clients are often bowled over by the number and sheer variety of their choice as a result of our design collaboration.
Silver Forge specialises in creating beautiful sterling silver and fine silver jewellery. Our pendant, ring and bracelet designs are unique, easy to wear and have personality!
A large display of work can be seen at our studio so please do pop in when you are passing.
Silver Forge was launched in late 2005 and we have been on a very steep learning curve ever since, developing and experimenting in several areas whilst trying to retain our “reason for being”: Silver Forge prides itself on creating one off pieces that bring pleasure to the owner.
Silver Forge is situated in the South Lakes area of Cumbria, although we find that many of our clients are based in cities all over the country.
We moved into a new studio in July 2007: Yew Tree Barn. The barn's a treasure trove, with a resident ceramics artist, photographer and framer, award winning watercolourist, furniture restorer, as well as a gallery of fine art and collectable items, not to mention antique furniture and a cafe which serves a delicious menu of savoury and sweet dishes that are made daily on the premises. We were concerned initially that our rural setting would make it difficult for clients to find us but the internet and email proves that location is not a barrier to the perfect piece of jewellery!
We are passionate about what we do, and are always delighted to receive enqueries about commissions, the manufacturing process or our training workshops, so please do get in touch.
