The combination of short and long rectangular links add a new design element to this acid etched sterling silver bracelet. The oval etch pattern adorns the longer links whilst a satin finish is used on the short bars, providing a great contrast. Although the bracelet is 2cm wide, it is very open which makes the bracelet light to wear. Finished with a lobster clasp, the bracelet is approximately 17.5cm in length.
Acid etching is a tricky process that takes time. A sterling silver sheet is painted with a tar-like substance to prevent acid eating into the surface of the metal. Once this "resist" has dried, the silver is placed into an acid bath. The depth of the etched pattern depends on the strength of the acid bath and the time the metal is left to soak. We only create small sheets of any one design; once it has gone, it's gone!
