Working in sterling silver sheet and wire, the techniques used in these workshops will be those of traditional silversmiths and jewellers.

I will share hard-earned tricks and tips, enabling you to adapt and develop your skills in a creative environment, producing something beautiful, quirky or stunning – or all three.

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver jewellery is typically made from silver sheet or wire which is then shaped, soldered or hammered.

It uses traditional skills that jewellers and silversmiths have been using for centuries. It takes longer to learn than the Silver Clay Workshops but is very rewarding.

Preparing the ring for flaring.
  • draw it into a wire
  • texture it
  • bend it
  • cast it
  • solder it
  • colour it

Just like jewellers and silversmiths have done through the ages.

Who it’s aimed at:

  • Beginners – no experience needed
  • Intermediates – who want to explore more

You will leave with at least one wearable piece, though most workshop attendees leave with more. Additional silver can be purchased on the day if needed.

The fused glass workshops are held at the studio in Milnthorpe.
