Art Clay Silver is the patented name for silver that has been reclaimed from the photographic process and processed into clay (silver particles + organic binders + water). Once fired in a kiln this clay becomes 99.9% solid silver (this is purer than sterling silver which is 92.5% pure). A fun medium that can be modelled, rolled, textured and stretched to produce imaginative pieces of jewellery or miniature sculpture.

Jo presents one- and two- day workshops in a growing range of ACS topics. Her workshops have proved so popular in adult education centres in the County that Jo has branched out and now runs further workshops in the new studio at Yew Tree Barn on the A590 at Low Newton in Cumbria.

Jo is an experienced and qualified ACS instructor who will do everything possible to ensure that you have a fantastic workshop experience! Why not book onto a session and make yourself a piece of fine silver jewellery that nobody else will ever have.

Getting to Grips with ACS – a beginner’s workshop for anyone new to ACS (or in need of a refresher). Jo will guide you through the basics of working with this fantastic medium, from design to finished item. You will take at least one piece home, but invariably participants leave with more!

Next Steps – for those of you who have had a taste of ACS and want to know a bit more! Jo will widen your knowledge of this versatile product and show you how you can develop your ideas from imagination to creation.

Glass and ACS – not for the faint-hearted, this two-day experience will provide you with the opportunity to fuse your own glass cabochons for use in an ACS design or two.

Enamels and ACS – a winning combination of old and new! Using the well-documented and ancient technique of enamelling, Jo will assist you in creating a contemporary piece in ACS.

Christmas Gifts - a workshop for anyone who would like to make their own Christmas presents in fine silver, a gift that will be cherished for years to come. Of course, they don't have to be gifts for anyone else...

Christmas Decorations - in this day and age where we can purchase exquisite Christmas decorations, there is still room for the handmade! This workshop provides the opportunity to create your own tree or table decorations that you can keep forever, knowing that nobody will ever have the same! And what about Christmas crackers? Why not make your own fillers that your guests can keep to mark a very special Christmas in your home.

Workshops held at the new studio are limited to a maximum of 4 participants, but Jo is happy to provide 1:1 tuition too! Workshops are tailored to the experience of the participants and what they would like to get out of the day. If you cannot find a workshop listed that quite fits the bill, then please contact us to see if we are able to accommodate your "topic".
